early PROFESSIONALS futures forum event: emerging challenges and the changing face of ornithology

DATE: Thursday August 23
Time: 7:30 PM - 10:30 PM

[Open to All delegates]

The Early Professional Committees of the AOS and EOU invite everyone attending IOC 2018 to join them for a lively evening to discuss the unique challenges facing early career professionals in ornithology. We want to hear from you!

A diverse panel of speakers will address the unique challenges facing early career professionals in ornithology and answer questions in an informal, open-floor Q & A format. Over the last century, the ornithology profession has experienced great change in scientific breadth and excellence, but also in the diverse individuals behind such pivotal research, teaching, outreach, and conservation. As our elder members retire, early career professionals now make up the majority of the ornithological workforce. The objective of our round-table is to provide a framework for thoughtful discussions about the future of our discipline, including changes in the job market and securing sustainable careers, concrete steps professional ornithological societies can take to address concerns facing future ornithologists, and ways to increase and support diversity and equity in ornithology.

The Round-Table event opens and closes with a networking social hosted by the AOS & EOU

We hope to see you there!
